My FAVORITE DIY Cleaning with Essential Oils

Since using Essential Oils in our home, I have finally been able to rid our house of all of the toxic, chemical filled products that have been secretly poisoning my family everyday!  Did you know that most of us have, and use over 63 hazardous items in our homes daily?

It's shocking that we are sold products that we never question, and no one has to tell us how many terrible items are in each of them... I encourage you to simply look into one of those ingredients; Formaldehyde, to see how many of our everyday products contain this toxic ingredient and what the side effects of being exposed to it are!

I have now cleaned out my medicine cabinet, and also all of my cleaning supplies, soaps, lotions, etc. and am either buying or making all of our products to keep our home clean, healthy, and happy!  Here's the boxes of items that I got rid of and not only did it feel great to rid our home of chemicals, but I have WAY more cupboard space now!! BONUS

FYI- there was a local fire that broke out in a apartment building that displaced 9 different families.  I donated all of these products to them along with a lot of other stuff!  I was happy to donate these things to families in need instead of just throwing them away.

Here are some of my favorite items that I use to clean with daily:

For everyday cleaning; dusting, wiping off surfaces, cleaning up spills, getting sticky toddler handprints off of everything, etc.  This is what I use, these are my homemade version of Bleach Wipes!  They are completely safe, non-toxic, natural and they actually clean better than those toxic wipes :)

1) Find an old t-shirt or go purchase one from your local thrift store!  Cut the collar off and then separate the sleeves from the rest of the shirt.  You can cut the hems off and then use the sleeves as rags.  I just cut the t-shirt up into strips a little larger than normal bleach wipes.

Put all of your rags into a glass jar that can be sealed.

2) Add 1c. of distilled water, 1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner, 1t. Castile Soap, 5 drops Lemon and 5 drops of Purification Essential Oil.  Now, shake up your jar and you officially have a safe alternative to your bleach wipes.

3) Proceed to clean everything that you can find while your skin gets softer and your house begins to smell amazing!  Now, if it's a gross rag- throw it away!  If it's not too dirty, just throw it in your washing machine and when it's done- put it back into your jar and move on with your day!

Easy, breezy, Thievesy  :)

I also make my own cleaning spray with Thieves Household Cleaner, Lemon, and Water!  It's so easy to make and I clean all of my surfaces with it and especially my bathrooms.  Another great purpose for this spray is to wash all of our fruits/vegetables to make sure they are properly cleaned and ready to eat!

In fact, the Thieves Household Cleaner is so amazing that here are a couple of other products that I've replaced with my spray bottle, filled with natural goodness!

This is how I clean my toilets, sinks, and bathtubs now!  I have a jar filled with baking soda and Purification Essential Oil and use that instead of straight baking soda.  When I need to clean my tub/toilet/or sink, I simply shake some baking soda onto the area, spray some of my Thieves Cleaner and I'm able to scrub the dirt and germs away without all of the harsh chemicals :)

I've also been able to make my own carpet cleaner with the Thieves Household Cleaner, water, and Castille soap!  It works better than my former cleaner and is also much better smelling!

Add 1 cap of Thieves Household Cleaner, 2T. Castille soap, and fill the rest of the bottle with water and now you have your very own, natural carpet cleaner!

As you can see, Thieves Household Cleaner can keep your home fresh, clean, and chemical free for very little money or effort!  There is an entire product line of Thieves items that are ready to use and can replace your everyday items like toothpaste, mouthwash, hand soaps, etc. all in one package!

One of the biggest problems in my house is smells- gross smells!  With 2 toddlers, 2 dogs and a husband, there's always a garbage with a dirty diaper (not to mention the diaper pail itself), a stinky fridge, or a vacuum cleaner that will knock you down with stink!! My solution to the above problems is a Purification Jar!!!

It's simply a quart jar with holes punched into the lid, filled with baking soda and about 25 drops of Purification Essential Oil!  I shake it on my rugs, and carpets about 15 minutes before vacuuming- not only does it make my house smell amazing, it also covers up the stink of the vacuum cleaner which is simply amazing!  It's also natural and has no chemical smells unlike many carpet freshers,  which is the best part!

Another favorite Essential Oil of mine is Lemon!  First off, it smells amazing and second, it makes a wonderful adhesive remover!  I've used it to clean leftover glue off of a mirror, to get the gunk from labels off of jars, and the biggest project yet was to remove the backing of a rug that had adhered itself to my new hardwood floors!!!!  It's so nice to not have to use toxic adhesive removers that left me feeling light-headed and nauseous...

Instead I now use Lemon Essential Oil and it's the same product that I put in my water and drink everyday! AMAZING

You can also add a few drops of Lemon Essential Oil to a spray bottle full of white vinegar to clean your windows!  It works wonders and leaves no streaks...  I personally use old newspapers with this mixture because they don't leave all of the little paper particles that paper towels leave!

So there you have it, I have just showed you how I clean my entire house from top to bottom only using a few natural products!  Everything is very easy and inexpensive to make and extremely easy to use!  It really isn't hard at all to remove the chemical filled products in your home and replace them with safe, all-natural, homemade products instead!

Have a great day and HAPPY SPRING CLEANING!
