2015 New Years Resolutions!

With the New Year coming up and the "Sugar Filled" Holiday Season behind us, I decided to make 2015 about improving my Familys' Health and Well Being!  I have 4 categories of Lifestyle Changes that I plan on implementing in the New Year and they are:

Go Green in 2015

I have already been getting rid of all of the toxic, chemical-filled products in our home and replacing them with All Natural Homemade solutions! My goal for 2015 is to continue this way of life and to keep researching and changing our lifestyle to keep everyone much healthier and less exposed to chemicals/toxins.

Healthy Detox

With all of the sugar, alcohol, and just plain fatty/junky foods that I consumed over the past couple of years (no joke!) with no Detoxes or Cleanses, I thought now would be a GREAT time to change that. Makes sense to detox the organs that are responsible for detoxing our bodies- wouldn't you agree?

Strength & Health

After having 2 babies in 2 years, my body still isn't (probably won't ever be) the same!  I would like to begin incorporating Yoga, Pilates, and diet changes into my routine to become healthier and stronger.

Emotional Health

Last, is the most difficult for me.  I would like to learn how to support my emotions in a natural, healthy way.  I was physically, emotionally, mentally abused as a very young child and even when the physical stopped- the emotional has continued into adulthood.   I have dealt with my problems in my own way and have become a stronger person because of it.  Unfortunately, I still harbor quite a few "emotional issues" and am trying to resolve those and also trying to become "less angry" in general.  I'm also pretty sure that my hormones are haywire after the babies and somedays, I really feel like i'm losing it.  I have purchased a book called, "Releasing Emotional Patterns" and along with Essential Oils, I'm going to try to change some of my patterns!  This one will not be easy, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it helps...

This journey will be intense and also quite interesting and I hope that in 2016 these resolutions have been met and that I have a new group of less pressing matters to work on!  I wish you a Happy & Healthy 2015 and hope that I'll be able to inspire you to reach your own personal goals...

What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for many applications. Today, there are well over 300 essential oils in use by professional practitioners, each with its own centuries confirmed practical application. But don’t worry! You certainly don’t need 300 essential oils in your home to reap their benefits.

Essential Oils have protective properties which are the plant’s natural defense mechanism that work the same in our bodies. Essential Oils have a unique ability to penetrate the cell membrane and transport oxygen and nutrients inside the cell, thus giving more support to the immune system. They can effectively combat the damaging effects of toxins, impurities and harmful substances in and around our body.

Essential oils are the highly concentrated, aromatic essences of trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses, resins and flowers. They can be clear, amber, yellow, green, and even dark blue in color and range from very runny to almost solid in consistency. Each essential oil comes from specific parts of the plant they come from too.

For example:
Myrrh and Frankincense come from the tree resin
Lemon, Lime, Orange, Grapefruit and Bergamot come from the peel of the fruit
Cinnamon comes from the bark of the tree
Eucalyptus comes from the tree’s leaves
Rose comes from the petals
Pine comes from the needles and twigs

On average, each essential oil contains over 100 constituents with more being discovered every day. These components also change even among the same species of plant. 1 drop contains 40 million trillion molecules that affect the body at the cellular level.

Take lavender for example, you can grow the same exact type of lavender plant in France and one in your garden and they will have similar but different properties. This is because the soil, climate, altitude, and many other factors will be different, therefore producing a very different oil with its own unique properties and constituents.

My family and I use only Young Living essential oils. Here is a video telling you why.
