Here is a great post to talk about how essential oils can support Labor and Delivery.

Discover a more NATURAL way to care for YOUR BABY!

Immune Support:  Diffuse 2 drops Thieves, Lemon, or Lavender at bedtime and again during the day.  Mix 1 drop Melaleuca, Lemon, or Lavender with 1T. carrier oil and use a small amount to massage upper chest and back.

Respiratory Support:  For relief during daytime hours, diffuse 1 drop Lavender or Melaleuca.

Respriatory Support:  Mix 1 drop Lavender with 1T. carrier oil and rub small amount on chest and back.

Crying:  Place a drop of Lavender or Roman Chamomile on a tissue (or parents hand) and let baby smell the oil.  Be careful to keep babies hands away from oils so they don't end up with them in their eyes- we all know how fast those little hands are :)

Crying/Comfort:  (5ml)

5 drops Valor
5 drops Peace & Calming
10 drops Lavender
Sweet Almond Oil
Fill Glass Bottle (I buy mine HERE
with Essential Oils (I buy my oils HERE)
Top off with Sweet Almond Oil (I buy my Carrier Oils HERE
I add a roller fitament to my bottles for easy application (I buy them HERE)
Apply to chest and massage to help baby to feel comforted and to stop crying.

Diaper Discomfort:  Combine 1 drop German Chamomile with 1 drop Lavender and 1 drop whole milk.  Add mixture to bath water, swish around with hand before bathing baby.  Be careful to keep water away from baby's eyes and face.

Cooling Down:  Mix 1 drop Lavender with 1T. carrier oil.  Apply a small amount on the bottoms of the feet, the back of the neck, and behind the ears.  Cover the feet with socks so that baby won't get the oils in her mouth.

Teething:  Mix 1 drop Roman Chamomile or Lavender with 1T. carrier oil.  Use a small amount to massage around the outside of the face and jaw line.

ESSENTIAL OILS MOST COMMONLY RECOMMENDED FOR BABIES:
grapefruit, lavender, lemon, mandarin, melaleuca, orange, petitgrain, roman chamomile, tangerine, and neroli.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

Because a baby's skin is so delicate, it is a good idea to dilute all essential oils before applying them onto the skin.  A good rule of thumb is to dilute 1 drop of essential oil with 1T. of a carrier oil such as; jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, sunflower oil, extra-virgin olive oil, etc.  Avoid diffusing very strong oils such as; cinnamon, peppermint, or oregano in the baby's room.  It is also a good idea to cover baby's feet with socks after applying essential oils and to avoid applying oils on the baby's hands, so that the oils don't end up in baby's mouth!
